Under the automated substitute teacher assignment system that many districts use, a sub can find and accept jobs online or over the phone. Here, the web option lets you see what subject you will be teaching, and for whom, while the phone system only tells you at what school the job will take place.
Wednesday night, I received a call about a job for today at the high school. I accepted it, then went online to see the details. It was an assignment I had previously done. I thought back to that day, and remembered that a certain student, who I have taught more than once, is in one of the classes I would teach as part of this assignment. Remembering the difficulty I have had with this student, I went ahead and canceled the job. Furthermore, this student is a sophomore girl. Feel free to mock me.

perhaps if you'd told her you used to dress up like a gopher, things may have ended differently.
