Voting While Intoxicated

I made sure to swing by the liquor store today to stock up. Why?

That's right. The last thing we need are a bunch of winos trying to vote!

One legislator wants to fix this, though.
"This whole notion of not being able to drink on the day you're voting is just archaic," said McCoy, D-Salt Lake City. "You can get completely liquored up at home [editor's note - woo hoo!] and go vote if you want to, or you can have a glass of wine at home while you fill out at an absentee ballot, yet on Election Day you can't walk into a restaurant at noon and have a glass of wine. It seems there's a bizarre inconsistency."
In Utah, it seems like only the Democrats are sensible on alcohol. Here's more evidence of that:
Senate President John Valentine, R-Orem, said changes to any liquor laws would have to be vetted by multiple interest groups - including the Mormon church.
Unbelievable.

  3. We're voting yes on referendum one. Most of us, anyway. And we haven't had a drink all day!

  4. Welcome, senators! I already voted yes on 1, quite soberly. However, I may have to drink a toast of sympathy for Utah's kids if the referendum fails tomorrow, as it appears it will.

  6. That is THE voucher bill.

Actually, now it's the bill formerly known as "Voucher."

    It is now just a symbol . . .

. . . a picture of a rescue plane, going down in flames.
